Weekend in Austin

This past weekend, several friends and I gathered together and hung out in Austin.

The weekend began Friday night with dinner at Curra's Grill. A great restaurant in South Austin! I had the pollo chipotle and found it delicious. Some people had the avocado margaritas and highly recommended them.

Saturday morning began with a trip to Juan in a Million. We did not get to shake hands with Juan, but we did eat his food. I had a chorizo y huevos taquito. Others at our table had the Don Juan and rated it excellent. The Don Juan had been on television and the restaurant has challenges to see who can eat the most Don Juan's.

After breakfast, we helped to move one of the guys move and were rewarded with Sonic for lunch. Then it was off to Lake Lady Bird Johnson to kayak. We rented our kayaks from Rowing Dock. We paid $10/hour for each kayak. We had a great time on the river, seeing turtles, ducks, and playing with a tennis ball.

After kayaking, we stopped at the Nau's Enfield Drug Store for ice cream floats.

After ice cream floast, it was time for a nap! Dinner was at Homeslice in SoCo.

The wait was about an hour, but we made good use of the time out front.

As someone who doesn't particularly care for pizza, I must admit that this was some good pizza! Just get there early.

Dinner time! Looks like I am about to snap!

I did snap!

After dinner we went to a new bar called the Lustre Pearl Bar. It is an old house converted into a bar. Outside they have ping pong, tables, chairs, and hoolahoops. After getting drinks, we sat in the front room visiting. There were cupcakes on a table so we helped ourselves.

Turns out they belonged to a private birthday party. Oops!

The night ended with this sweet looking bike and trailor parked in front of the bar!

The next morning we attended church at First Evangelical Free Church in Austin. A good message was presented during the service.

Lunch was at Kerbey Lane. I went with the traditional pancakes.

A good weekend indeed!
