Miss South Caroline famously said that she felt the reason why Americans couldn't find the US on a map was that the people didn't have maps. She might not be too far from wrong!
I recently had the following conversation with a bum in downtown Augusta.
Bum - Hey! You're not from around here are you?
Me - No, I'm from Texas.
Bum - Cool! What part?
Me - South Texas.
Bum - Nice! Near Dallas, eh?
Me - Umm...
He then talked about the glories of the bars in the town then...
Bum - Where were you from again?
Me - The gulf coast of Texas.
Bum - Oh! So you know where Wichita Falls is!
Me - Yeah, I do.
Bum - Where is it?
If only he had a map.
